Information About Shar Pei Breedin

By: Melissa Coleman

The more you know about Shar Pei breeding the better prepared you can be to deal with issues and problems if they ever come up. The more you know about your Shar Pei the better equipped you will be as an owner to deal with the problems that come from owning the Shar Pei. Being familiar with some of the breeding tips that breeders know can also help you stay up on what you need to know as a responsible owner. Education is one of the greatest tools an owner can have.

The Shar Pei is a very intelligent and engaging animal. They can make you laugh and they can make you watch for hours as they investigate their surroundings. They are aggressive dogs so even as pups they will play a lot and require a lot of attention and that really never stops all their lives. They can be very loyal dogs and they take to almost any form of training very easily.

Everyone has seen a picture of a Shar Pei when it is a little pup and some people only know the Shar Pei by the images of that wrinkly little puppy that looks like it will never grow quite right into its skin.

A study of Shar Pei breeding will tell you that the little puppy will grow into a very strong and good-sized dog that has a very majestic and powerful look to it. Luckily it retains that face that you remembered and the face comes complete with the wrinkles that everyone knows, but when your Shar Pei is done growing it turns into an impressive dog.

Shar Pei fur is short and stiff and can get everywhere and people seem to forget about this because of the cute wrinkles. They can shed a lot so if you are not thinking that you want to be cleaning up a lot of little dog hairs then you may want to rethink a Shar Pei.

In Shar Pei breeding there is also a concern for many health issues. The Shar Pei can develop bone ailments called hip and elbow dysplasia and these can be quite painful for the dog as well as frustrating for the owner. Your Shar Pei is also known to develop digestive problems as well that can dictate what type of diet you can feed it or if it will need medical attention its whole life.

A good breeder makes sure that new owners are not getting a dog they cannot handle and that is just one of many good reasons to deal with a reputable breeder.

A Shar Pei breeder is a very intelligent person who only wants the best for you and your dog. Before you even take your dog home the breeder has spent time getting the pup used to the sounds and commotion of life in a house so you get a dog that is used to it. This is just one more reason to trust your new Shar Pei puppy purchase to a qualified breeder.
